ARTIST STATEMENT
"Each piece or series is an experiment into new materials, tools, and process. My intention is always to produce pieces with form that is original, and much of my satisfaction is derived from solving the technical challenges that arise when creating something that I believe to be unique. I use repetition and pattern of simple shapes to produce a more complex composition that I find appealing. Hard lines, angles, and math are far more prevalent in my work than organic shapes, or the use of colour. Subsequently, it comes as no surprise that my educational background includes mathematics and computer science, and my profession is in the IT field. Creating these works is my passion and my escape from the corporate world." Dan Johnson 2012
