Artist Statement
_ Painting with emotion and heart, aiming to evoke individual interpretation in her viewers, Gloria Green is a prominent artist. She is leaving a mark on the art world by broadening the horizon of modern art. Her objective is to take the passion she has for music and science and build a multidisciplinary humanistic approach in her paintings. Green has always been a piano player and music lover, which have always been integral parts of her being. An appreciation for art, beauty, and design also play fundamental components in her artwork. Green also has a degree in nutrition which brings a third aspect of stimuli to her painting. Working in acrylic for many years she has adapted a sense of freedom and discovery. Her versatility with acrylic can either thicken the palette or dilute it similar to water colour. She remarks; “I am uninhibited; but sometimes control is warranted, so that you can be in command of a tempered chaos”.
Painting is a release; the names she gives each work of art are merely an aid to interpretation for the observer of her work. The combination of abstract and organic qualities injects meaning into her paintings. Green has a strong connection to her family and friends that extend to her place of work. Collectively, these qualities help her to have a greater appreciation for her thoughts from within and transcend them onto a canvas. Color, shape, balance and texture play large roles in the outcome of one single painting, dependent on mood from start to finish.
Green strives for beautiful color, simplicity and design. Each work of art can be vibrant, or subdued, dark, moody and sexy. There is tranquility in color but it can also bring about depth and attitude. Color and texture are intriguing aspects of creativity complementing what makes the painting. Green holds true to the one notion that ``getting a great color can make her really happy. Art is a true testament to the notion that one is always able to find a glowing light within and bring it out with a single dash of color.

Biography/CV
_ Gloria Green, Toronto, Canada born,
obtained a degree in Nutrition from Ryerson University and received her
Master’s of Science from the University of Toronto. Seven years ago, Green was
inspired to draw upon her ever-present love of music and abstract art, emerging
on the art scene as a painter. Inspired by an early training in classical piano
and an interest in abstract artists such as Franz Kline and Rothko, she studied
abstract painting under the direction of artist Lydia Parnat at The Avenue Road
School of Art. She attended the Toronto
School of Art using acrylic paint as a medium, and her work took prolific
shape. Her musical inspiration brings to life her artistic visions. Consequently, by working in the health care
field her artwork shines with feeling and sentiment.
