"Joy, Hope, Excitement & Passion"
I find that working with brushes and paint is an exciting adventure. When I approach a canvas, it is seldom with a pre-determined plan. If I do have a plan, however, I become so involved in the process of painting that changes always occur,
and the finished product is always different from the original conception.
Recently, abstract works have become even more fascinating to me than any realistic work due to the total freedom of dealing only with colour, shape, line, texture, design and application of paint. The variety of materials and infinite choice of ways to use them keep the creative process challenging and interesting.
I believe that painting often expresses that which cannot be conveyed through words. When I paint at my freest and best, I enter a place where there is no thought, only feeling, and the work almost seem to create themselves. This is a wonderful private place, just for me, but it’s more. It’s a place where I feel in touch with something larger. I’ve reconnected with the feeling I had as a child, a belief in the spiritual and the magic and wonder of life. Donna Brown
